[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 30일 부산시 A호스텔에서 케이테크㈜, ㈜스템과 대규모 투자협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

케이테크㈜, ㈜스템은 진주시 정촌일반산업단지와 뿌리일반산업단지에 총 950억원을 투자하고 440명의 신규 인력을 채용할 예정이다.

이날 협약으로 지난 4월 1000억원의 대규모 기업 유치에 이어 대규모 투자 기업을 유치한 진주시는 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출에 활력을 불어넣을 전망이다.

케이테크㈜는 유망 방산기업으로, UAE 현지에서 국영 군수기업인 카라칼(CARACAL)사와 총기류 제조 및 수출 사업 계약을 체결했다. 

케이테크는 카라칼사와 계약 이행을 위해 이번 투자협약을 시작으로 정촌일반산업단지 내 800억 원을 투자하고 400명을 채용할 예정이다.

㈜스템은 항공기 기체 구조물 제조 관련 핵심 항공기업으로, 뿌리일반산업단지 내 150억원을 투자하고 40명을 채용할 예정이다.

조규일 진주시장은 “유망 방산기업이 진주에 투자를 해준 것에 큰 의미가 있다”며“성공적인 투자가 되도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.

한편 진주시는 방산기업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 지난 4월 진주지역 방산 관련 33개 업체를 중심으로 ‘진주 방위산업 기업협의회’를 출범했다.
